Architectural visualization as a creative tool — not just to illustrate a finished design, but to test ideas and tell the story behind a project.
My illustrating journey began as a way to better visualise my design ideas and communicate them clearly to others. At first I relied on simple tools, but over time I expanded my skills with software such as Lumion, Enscape, Photoshop, and Illustrator, learning how to balance atmosphere, materiality, and light.
Professional application
While working at INBO and HFB Architectuur, I applied these skills to professional projects including De Wijngaerdt (Papendrecht), Hoorn Plemolenpad, and the Maarssen tender — producing visualisations that supported both design development and client presentations.
A creative tool
What started as a technical skill has become a creative tool for me: not just to illustrate a finished design, but to test ideas, explore spatial qualities, and tell the story behind a project.
